Monel 400 Plate
Monel refers to a family of nickel alloys primarily composed of nickel the most and copper alongside various other elements. Cupronickel is the term used to describe alloys with a higher proportion of copper than nickel. Monel typically consists of a nickel content ranging from 52% to 67%. Compared to pure nickel materials, Monel's composition and properties provide it with increased strength and durability. Monel can be formed through either hot rolling or cold drawing processes. Monel products produced by cold drawing exhibit high dimensional accuracy while hot-rolled ones possess superior strength. The Monel alloy demonstrates exceptional resistance to the rapid flow of seawater, among other environmental factors. Due to its resistance to the rapid flow of seawater, Monel is an ideal material for use in marine and seawater applications. It is easy to be welded, machined, and cold worked upon this material.
Â
The MONEL® nickel-copper alloy 400 (UNS N04400/ W.Nr. 2.4360 and 2.4361) can only be strengthened through cold working due to its solid-solution structure. The Monel alloy exhibits outstanding strength and resilience across various temperatures, and remarkable resistance to a multitude of corrosive environments. The versatile Alloy 400 finds extensive applications in various industries, particularly in marine and chemical processing. Typical applications are valves and pumps; pump and propeller shafts; marine fixtures and fasteners; electrical and electronic components; springs; chemical processing equipment; gasoline and fresh water tanks; crude petroleum stills, process vessels, and piping; boiler feedwater heaters and other heat exchangers; and deaerating heaters.
